Bengaluru Metro to take safety measures following incidents, plans installation of railings and platform screen doors

BMRCL set to introduce platform screen doors in the few upcoming metro stations

Bangalore Metro Rail Company Ltd. (BMRCL) will present stage screen entryways (PSD) in the couple of forthcoming metro stations. The underlying execution of PSD will happen at Konappana Agrahara in Hardware City, making it the main station in the city to highlight this innovation. This station, financed by Infosys Establishment, is important for the R.V. Street Bommasandra Yellow Line, expected to become functional this year.

"Guaranteeing the security of travelers and forestalling occurrences of individuals entering the tracks, which can prompt critical disturbances in metro tasks, is a squeezing concern. Our methodology includes introducing steel hand railings along the foundation of occupied stations, explicitly situated at the stage edges where train entryways open. Initiating from Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Exchange Station, we plan to execute these hand railings," a senior BMRCL official said.

As of now, BMRCL has given tenders for the establishment of PSD in the underground passageway (Reach-6) of Stage 2. PSD mitigates potential occurrences like people falling onto the tracks, hanging over stage edges, or wandering past assigned stage regions. Eminently, different metros in India, like those in Delhi and Chennai, have proactively embraced PSD.

As of now, BMRCL depends on watches close to metro stages to screen people moving toward the tracks or endeavoring to bounce onto them, as well as to oversee swarms by making them stand in lines. In any case, the shortfall of PSD actually presents likely risks.

On January 5, a male suburbanite bounced before a train at Jalahalli metro station at 7.12 p.m. He supported wounds and was moved to a confidential clinic. This occurrence brought about disturbances in the Green Line tasks until 8 p.m.
