Putting Parandur on the radar

Early last week, in-principle approval was granted to the second airport at Parandur in Tamil Nadu. The airport will feature three midfield terminals, two parallel runways, and a handling capacity of 100 million passengers a year. Sunitha Sekar does a ground report on the multiple factors that are at play, as a massive infrastructure project gets under way. While the new airport is expected to raise the potential for Chennai, in terms of freight and passenger traffic, there are environmental and social justice concerns too
