Indiranagar serial slasher arrested from Bengaluru outskirts

In a significant development, Bengaluru's Indiranagar neighborhood can breathe a sigh of relief as the notorious "serial slasher" has been apprehended. The arrest brings an end to a week-long spree of terror that left multiple individuals injured and the community in fear.

The Arrest

Kadamba S., a 21-year-old resident of Old Binnamangala, was arrested in Hoskote, approximately 60 kilometers from Bengaluru. His capture was the result of an intensive manhunt by the Bengaluru police, who had been tracking his movements since the attacks began. Kadamba had been evading authorities by frequently changing locations, with assistance from his family members. In addition to Kadamba, his father Suresh, elder brother Vishnu, and sister Sushmitha were also arrested for harboring him and misleading the police.

The Attacks

The series of violent incidents commenced on February 8, 2025, when Kadamba, reportedly inebriated, had a heated argument with his family over their refusal to provide him money for alcohol. In a fit of rage, he stormed out and began attacking individuals indiscriminately. Within a span of thirty minutes, he had stabbed four people in the neck over trivial disputes. His victims included a security guard, a 19-year-old youth, and two street vendors. Later, he attacked a bike-taxi driver, stole his vehicle, and fled the scene.

Community Impact

The sudden and brutal nature of the attacks instilled widespread fear among Indiranagar residents. Social media platforms were abuzz with rumors of a serial killer on the loose, leading to heightened anxiety. The police had to issue clarifications to dispel misinformation and assure the public that they were actively pursuing the suspect.

Police Response

The Bengaluru police launched an extensive investigation, analyzing CCTV footage and monitoring the movements of Kadamba's family members. Their efforts paid off when they tracked him to a medical store in Hoskote, where he attempted to deceive the shopkeeper but fled when confronted. Subsequently, authorities apprehended him and brought him to the Indiranagar police station.

Legal Proceedings

Kadamba, who has a history of assault and theft, had a rowdy sheet opened against him in May 2024, which was later closed after he posted a bond promising good behavior. With his recent actions, he now faces multiple charges, including attempted murder. His family members are also facing charges for aiding and abetting his evasion of the law.

Community Relief

The arrest has brought a sense of relief to the residents of Indiranagar. Local community leaders have praised the swift action of the police and emphasized the importance of community vigilance and cooperation with law enforcement to maintain safety and order.

Conclusion

The apprehension of the Indiranagar serial slasher underscores the effectiveness of coordinated police work and community involvement in addressing threats to public safety. As the legal process unfolds, the incident serves as a reminder of the need for proactive measures to prevent such occurrences in the future.
