Block chairman's husband booked for forging BDO's signature to withdraw Rs 15 lakh in Odisha

Tangi police in Khordha district have registered a case under section 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against a contractor who is the husband of the Chilika block chairman for forging the signature of the BDA and withdrawing a deposit of Rs 15 lakh.


According to the complaint, Kishore Behera, a former member of the district council who is the husband of the Chilika block chairman, was a contractor by profession. He signed a contract for a construction project and pledged Rs 15 lakh as security money. He had to return the deposit after the work was done


It is alleged that he forged the signature of Tangir's Block Development Officer (BDO) and an official letter and withdrew the deposit before completing the work.


After learning about the fraud, Tangi BDA lodged a complaint with Tangi police station. Based on the complaint, the police have registered a case under Section 420 of the IPC.


No response could be obtained from Kishore and Tangi BDA in this regard. However, PD, DRDA, Digita Routre and Tangi Police Station IIC confirmed that a case has been registered against the juvenile.
