CM Biren Singh says, 30 rebels fired in Manipur

30 insurgents were shot dead by security forces in Manipur, the northeastern state's chief minister N Biren Singh said.
Speaking to newspapers in Imphal, Singh said the dead were "firearmed civilians". "I will not call them Kuki terrorists. They are Kuki terrorists," NDTV told him. The state has been in turmoil for over a month due to clashes between the Kuki tribe and the Metai community.

Sources told NDTV that the insurgents, who were fired upon by security personnel, attacked Sekmai, Sugnu, Kumbi, Phayeng and Sero, located near Imphal Valley, around 2 am.
