IIT Bhubaneswar PhD scholar died in a freak accident on campus

The deceased has been identified as Abhinand Panda. He was married and lived a chaotic life in Jatni.

A PhD student of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar died on Tuesday evening after being run over by a crane engaged in construction work on the campus in Jatni suburb.

The deceased has been identified as Abhinand Panda. He was married and lived a chaotic life in Jatni.

Panda was reportedly walking home after finishing his class when the crane ran over him.

After the accident, security guards and other employees of the institution rushed him to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar where doctors declared him brought dead.

The crane operator fled the scene after the accident.

The Jatani police seized the crane and launched an investigation to nab the operator.
